Intravenous sedation
Intravenous sedation is well utilised for patients who are nervous or anxious about oral surgery. We use high quality sedation for a completely comfortable experience.

Intravenous sedation is also known as conscious sedation and is designed to alleviate the pain, fear and anxiety that often accompany oral surgical procedures. It involves administering medication through an intravenous line in the arm, which then produces the sedation effect. A patient then begins to feel relaxed, comfortable and sleepy while local anaesthetic is given and surgery can proceed. Patients will often have trouble remembering much about the procedure itself which adds to a positive experience.
Intravenous sedation requires high level staff training and up to date certification in Basic (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Specialised monitoring equipment is used to measure blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate and carbon dioxide (CO2) thoughout the procedure. It is a safe, reliable, well-regulated and desirable way to provide oral surgery treatment. Suitability for intravenous sedation is determined at the time of consultation.
